Iditarod 2012 -By Anna Coke
This is DeeDee and me petting Puffball. |
I went to the Iditarod 2012 Restart. I saw a girl named Anna she and her sister were the first twins to race in the Iditarod. I kept track of them throughout the race. And I met Deedee Jonrowe and her lead dog. She got in 2nd place twice.
When I grow up I want to be a musher and that's why I liked going to the Iditarod and meeting the mushers.

Some Thing Cool
Hello I have always wanted to invent something for a long time. And I believe I have. I've been working on something for military use. It is a hand held weapon. That is all I can say but stand by for updates.

Density in Nature
We've been learning about Democritus (above). He discovered the concept of the atom.
To help us understand the concept of density in nature we poured oil, then water, then maple syrup into a glass. The density of each liquid can be seen in this picture:
Because the atoms in oil are packed loosely, the water and syrup could pass through and settle below it. It was the same with the water. Atoms in the maple syrup are the most tightly packed, making it the heaviest.

Next we dropped several solids into the layers of liquids. We predicted what would happen with each solid. We started with the cork. It floated on the top because its atoms are loosely packed, making it the lightest. Next we dropped in the grape. It settled on the top of the maple syrup. The rock sunk to the very bottom, showing that is it even heavier than the syrup. The rock's atoms are VERY closely packed. The ice went to the top of the layer of the water, showing that the atoms in ice are more loosely packed than the atoms in water.

My Magic Number-By Anna Coke
For math today we found out what our "magic" numbers are. We used a code to add up the letters of our full names. My name is Anna and my magic number is 6. That means that I am Fair unselfish and careful of other people's feelings. I like to keep things neat and well organized. It was fun.
We also learned about Magic squares. Above, is an example. All the rows add up to 15!
